Sheriff’s Department saves 2nd Lake County life with Naloxone

ct-ct-lns-heroinsave-st-0203A young man who was overdosing on heroin Saturday is alive because a Lake County Sheriff’s deputy arrived at his Green Oaks home and gave him an injection of a substance that reverses the effects of opiates, the sheriff’s office said.

According to officials, the emergency use of a Naloxone injection has now saved two lives from overdoses in Lake County. The first was on Christmas Day in Deerfield and Saturday marked the first for the sheriff’s office.

“Deputy Amanda Fosco’s quick recognition of the situation due to her recent training in the use of Naloxone and the issuance of the Naloxone auto-injector were instrumental in saving the man’s life,” said Sheriff Mark Curran in a statement.
